Get ready for St Patrick's Day, and enjoy a sociable, craic-filled afternoon! EVERY SUNDAY for the next six months, starting Sunday, February 12th, we will be offering weekly Irish dance classes. Start time is 13h00 and they last up to two hours. All going well, classes will run every Sunday afternoon until the end of July or August. Come to one or two to brush up on your jigs and reels, or join us for the entire series and wow your friends with your ceili and set dancing abilities! We'll be concentrating on ceili dances (Gay Gordons, Waves of Tory, Siege of Ennis, Haymaker's Jig, Faery Reel, etc) and set dances (Waltz Cotillion, Polkas, etc) but will offer "solo" dance instruction in both soft and hard shoes if there's sufficient interest. All ages are welcome to participate at their own pace. Advanced students may be invited to join an amateur performing company. 2€ per class, 5€ for families No special shoes or clothes necessary, though we do recommend something comfortable in which to exercise, and keep long hair tied back away from the face. NO JEANS! Exercise shoes, jazz slippers, or water shoes are excellent to begin in. Oh, and bring some water to drink! And of course, please be sure to check with your doctor before you begin upon any physical activity! Classes will be held in English, supplemented with French and a little Portuguese if necessary. Please note that this is not a baby-sitting service; children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. We encourage families to come, and offer the special rate of 5€ for immediate family members. Chrystine Robinson danced competitively in Canada and the US for ten years in the An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha, achieving Preliminary Championship level, and has danced in front of crowds of thousands with bands like The Dropkick Murphys and The Mahones. Her mother, Denise, started dancing as an adult and also achieved some competitive success. They have offered popular workshops in Canada, the USA, and Portugal, and are members of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
